About Artist

The interaction of colour is the basis for my work. I am excited by bright, strong colour and the drama created by darkness and light. Inspired by the Spanish masters and moved by the colours of Van Gogh, my paintings have been described as “displaying fine technique, and an assured heightened sense of colour and form”.

I describe my style as Contemporary Realism. For me each painting is a challenge and an adventure. Observation is the key, working with the composition and background, this compels me to paint. Through the use of thin layers of high pigment oil paint, my aim is to render a translucent and luminous painting which gives the viewer the illusion of high realism.

I have trained at Central St Martin’s, Putney School of Art and South Thames College, London. My work is in private and public collections in the UK and abroad, was recently featured in a national magazine and has been selected for the 2010 AAF New York. I exhibit on a regular basis at Advocate Galleries, Wimbledon Village, Llewellyn Alexander, London, Mackenzie Gallery, Teddington, and Skylark Galleries, Oxo Tower, London.

Commissions

Yes. Ideally, I like to meet the client and get to know them and what they want but I have also done commissions for clients abroad. Good communication is of the essence in those cases. Having interpreted the client's wishes, I present them with an oil sketch and when approved I complete the painting.
A 15% is added to my standard prices and I require a 50% deposit before I start, and the rest on completion.
